Gift Guide: For Hard Days

small a5 print sitting on a wooden sideboard surrounded by plants. Text on the print reads: "you are deserving of support and care"

Some days are just rough. From start to end. This can be true for everyone of course, everyone has bad days. But when you're living with chronic illness and/or disability, sometimes the hard days have extra layers to them.

Know someone that's struggling, going through something difficult? Want to be there for them but don't quite know what to say? These gift ideas feature mindful messages that aim to be inclusive, non-dismissive, and help people feel seen as they are.

And so we keep going I guess

Jenny is a white slim woman with short dark hair wearing a white tshirt with black text on the chest that reads: "and so we keep going I guess".

Sometimes keeping going can be difficult. Sometimes you do it simply because you have to, not because you're full of determination and gusto. A more quiet approach to motivation works better for some people. And so we keep going, I guess.

"And so we keep going I guess" is available on A3, A4 and A5 recycled paper art prints, stickers, tote bags and t-shirts on the shop.

Ouch!

A framed red art print. Print features black and off-white text that repeats the word "ouch".

Maybe you're dealing with chronic illness, chronic pain, or maybe life is simply tricky at the moment. Sometimes there's nothing else to say really. OUCH.

"Ouch!" is available on A3, A4 and A5 recycled paper art prints and stickers on the shop.

Everything hurts and I feel like death

Natural canvas tote bag on a couch. On the front of the beg is handwritten text that reads "everything hurts and I feel like death". The text is framed by a ring of abstract colourful floral shapes.

Some days just suck, and you’re allowed to be honest about that. We like to be realistic in this space - your negative feelings are just as valid as the positive ones.

"Everything hurts" is available on A3, A4 and A5 recycled paper art prints, stickers, tote bags and t-shirts on the shop.

Twist and shout cause it hurts

Jenny is a white slim woman with short dark hair sitting on the couch at home. She is wearing a black t-shirt with white text on the chest that reads: "Twist and shout cause it hurts".

Some days are hard and pain is spiking, you’re allowed to be honest about that. We like to be realistic in this space - your negative feelings are just as valid as the positive ones.

"Twist and shout" is available on A3, A4 and A5 recycled paper art prints, stickers and t-shirts on the shop.

Please handle with care, I'm sleepy okay?

Framed yellow art print with dark brown text that reads: "please handle with care I'm sleepy okay?" The text is surrounded by illlustrated stars

Everyone's "best" is going to vary day to day. That's allowed! Some days are just extra sleepy.

"Handle with care" is available on A3, A4 and A5 recycled paper art prints, stickers, tote bags and t-shirts on the shop.

Life is messy and complex, "Get Well Soon" doesn't always apply. It can be hard to know what to say or how to support. I get that. It's a big reason why I started the shop. Because I firmly believe sick and disabled people deserve things that speak to our experiences, and we deserve nice things that do that too.

It's important to note that there can of course be joy that coexists with illness and disability too. We deserve representation of the wide variety of experiences and feelings that can appear. There's lots of joyful products on the shop too. There's plenty to choose from, so feel free to browse the shop at your leisure. Everything is designed by a chronically sick, disabled, and autistic designer working from their bed.
